where are the weights mounted on these? since that big lip runs so far inside looks like it would be hard to balance these without ruining the look of the wheel

 

They're mounted deep into the barrel into the stepped (secondary) part of it. Can't really see it unless you're looking for it. There's no "ruining the look of the wheel".

 

Can you take a picture of them for me if you get a chance? That way i can tell my tire guy how to put those on, I've seen some with weights far out near the spokes and they looked terrible that way.

 

Gonz, did you end up lowering the rear more? remember we were talking about how both of ours seemed to sit up higher in back than front?

 

You really can't notice them all that much. I know I need to reposition the center cap to point to the valve stem. Just have to get to it.

Tarek - yes, it's lowered to pretty much squared. I took it in for the service to have all the fluids changed (that's when they noticed the small crack on the Ruf rep) and had the rears adjusted and the car aligned. Hitting the pot hole really threw it off. To me it's perfect now.

Did you bother putting in TPMs?? Also did you figure out the height? (Want to make sure the gap on 20s won't be too bad with my 1.2" drop)

Yes, I bought another set of TPMS. I left the Ruf reps intact and will be repairing the small crack and selling the wheels/tires/TPMS. I think you'll have some gap with 20" especially the 25-series in the rear. I had my coil overs adjusted down a way. The measurement from the bottom of the fender lip on all 4 corners to the bottom lip of the wheel is 24", I'm running 235/30-20 in the front and 305/25-20 in the rear. There's essentially no gap - you can get your finger in there but you'll feel the top of the tire - LOL. There's absolutely no rubbing too.

 

How have the CV3's been from a maintenance perspective. While easy to clean I have been told they scratch easily on the machined face of the spokes... Do you any of you find this to be true?

 

I love it... I always thought the cv3s reminded me of the old school iroc camaro wheels.

But they just look stunning on the 997. I love the rear concave.

I might have missed it, but how much drop and what setup?

 

I drove it quite a bit this weekend but I suspect as with any wheel you'll come into play with stuff on the road. So far so good, but nothing a little polish won't handle if it happens.
