What's my car worth?

Thinking about selling my car (this is not an ad), because I don't drive it much. I would like to get some input from folks here on what I should ask for it.

2006 Carrera S Cabriolet
14,500 miles
Midnight Blue Metallic / Sand Beige / Metropol Blue top
6 speed
NAV, Full Leather, Bose Audio, Sport Classic wheels

Thanks,
Mike

35,000. Check DuPont Registry!! 7.5 years old. Sell it yourself, never trade to a dealer!!

Volnomad Jan 16, 2013 08:11 PM

If you drove it more, you would not want to sell it!

avmike Jan 16, 2013 08:12 PM

Not going to trade. And certainly not going to sell it for $35k! hilarious

I cannot disagree with this. :) And I probably will replace it in the future.

trade it towards a Mercedes Benz:D

Volnomad Jan 16, 2013 08:45 PM

I traded my '10 C4S for a Mercedes.. Missed my 911 so much that I had to get another one! :D

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I lost enough money in the process to buy a VW. Yikes.

You didn't mention condition, but assuming it is in very good condition with maintenance records up to date, clear car fax and no major over-revs, since it is a very low miles car, I would say put it out there private party for an ask of like 46--48. I think people will at least come take a look and hopefully you can part with it like around 44 or so...

well who's fault is that? what kind did you get?

one reason I like to trade to the dealer, despite the loss, is that I don't need to:
take phone calls, deal with tire kickers, trust someone and they're time frames to do business........too much hassle IMO..

Just go on cars.com & autotrader and search for similar 911s with same year, mileage and comparable options. It's pretty simple.

But I get the feeling if you gotta ask what your vehicle is worth, you're a good candidate to trade it in at the dealer. ...which is not a bad option since they do all the work for you of marketing the vehicle, showing it to potential customers and taking care of the sale. Lot easier said that done...especially on a 911 where the market isn't like it is for $2,000 Honda Civics with 200,000 miles on the clock.

I have had about 6 benz's and have never bought them, only leased them, for that specific reason. Those cars depreciate faster than any cars I have ever owned...

+1 That sounds about right maybe even start out a little higher depending on your market. What are you thinking about getting if you get rid of the 997 ?

marsfire Jan 17, 2013 02:58 PM

mid 40's sounds about right, especially with the low mileage. if you're not in a rush to sell, just list it a little higher, like 46/47. If you don't get any interest, you can slowly drop the price.
