Tire cost on 997 S --__--
I really like them, however I don't track them. Spirited driving is all I can do on Long Island. Compare the specs.
I agree with discount tire also.... I even had them price match for one of the cheaper online retailers, they just factored in shipping.
However, one minor caveat worth noting. Are you leasing? A Porsche must have "N" spec tires. I'm not sure that the Super Sport tire is N spec yet. If you return the car with non N spec tires, you could be subject to reconditioning charge. Easy, go to Tirerack, enter your car and see all the choices and the OEM tires. The Michelin PSSs really seem to be about the best going at this point and they are about $1300 a set.
It's not leased, so I can take it to other places for tire change? They not gona mess up some other parts of the car will they?
Seriously? You've always gone to a dealer for tires? No, it will not invalidate your warranty and there are plenty of shops that can install a tire. It is not rocket science.

Many non dealer tire install shops have put tires on Porsches ranging from all different years. Everything worked great on mine, even my TPMS. If you are nervous just get it done at a dealer. It's more money, but piece of mind is.....Pricesless.....

I just bought 2 Michelin PS2s for the rear from Tire Rack. Paid roughly $500 a tire plus installation. I looked at the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, and they are a good value, but they are an inferior performance tire and if I remember correctly, they are not Z rated and not recommended for my 997S.
I got a set of Kumho's. Cost me about $800. Happy with them.

lets be smart, savvy consumers, instead of arrogant, dumb ones
I've had Porsches for years and never heard of anyone taking them to a dealership to get tires changed, it isn't a hard job. I recommend getting. Pilot Super Sports they are rated more highly then the pilot sports and cost less. When you take your car for install be sure to ask them not to stack the rims, or to place them face down as this may scratch them.
