Car Washing after Body Work
Car Washing after Body Work
The body shop forgot to tell us and I forgot to ask, but how long should you wait before you wash your car after a repair. I do know that the body shop does bake the car to dry the paint. BTW it's not on my 997.
What Johnny said. I believe the paint should be cured so washing is ok. When I had work done on my other car, I was told to wait 30 days before waxing or installing a clear bra. Maybe someone else can chime in with some more definitive answers.
After the car has been baked in the booth, it is allowed to cool outside.
As I said previously it is the flattened with a fine disc, normally 1500 grit, then polished with a compound like Farecla G3 or 3M Fast Cut.
More than ,likely it will be given a coat of polish or hand glaze too.
It's then washed ready for collection.
I'm speaking from experience as an estimator and body shop manager.
If you couldn't touch it for 30 day, imagine how long your car would be off the road to get paintwork done. Most modern laquers are pretty durable.
