New lesson learned or why you shouldn't trust Carfax
The OP didn't state that Carfax said anything about a CPO warranty. He said the original factory warranty. The original dealer most likely "punched" the car before it was actually sold to the original owner. The warranty period starts when the car is "punched" by the dealer, not when first sold. "Punching" a car is not that unusual. Dealers will do that to collect trunk money if available on a car, or to get a new allocation, or sometimes other reasons. Usually, the original dealer will disclose that to the original buyer.
Sounds like the OP did not buy this car from a Porsche franchised dealer, so they probably didn't even know when the warranty expired. Regarding Carfax, they are basically worthless.

Service guy was going by the warranty start date according to Porsche NA records which was several months earlier than my purchase date. Sales guys don't bother to tell you this and if the dealer won't fess up for the first owner no way Carfax would have any way of knowing.
