Hey guys...just wondering how many miles you can go on a full tank of gas in you 997.2 C2.

I've had my 997.2 for just over 2 weeks and my car is only making it about 240 miles on a tank.

I am NOT revving it, I am NOT driving fast or hard.
I'm actually trying to follow the shift arrow for best fuel economy and try my best to keep the revs at the 2k-3k mark at all times.
This is all city driving.

I expected to get much better gas mileage from this car, so wondering if there could be something wrong or something I'm doing wrong.

I get about 210-220 in mostly heavy traffic (meaning few high-rev shifts), but then my car has been modded and I do drive it like I stole it as soon as traffic opens up...

 

I've got about 300 miles lots of highway driving but pushing the car hard time to time. 2012 C4S 997.2

when i had my 09 C2 6speed i could easily go 250+ miles highway driving.

Average mpg is 26-28 mpg but again usually i cruise at 65-75 mph, not higher...

In all my cars on highway driving i can always exceed the manufacturer mpg figure... I do that with a combination of using the criuse control and feathering the gas pedal...

my wife is the extact opposite! LOL

 

A better figure would be MPG which is much less subjective on when that tank was filled or how close to empty it was.

I average around 17 - 17.5 mpg with 75% city driving - and thats not spirited driving. '06 C2

 

In general, try not to go almost empty on any vehicle. Why? Your fuel pump might pick up the crap on the bottom of your tank.

 

For city driving that's good mileage , but like it says on the sticker..." Your
mileage may vary ".

 

A little over 300 miles on the highway. ~315-330

With an estimated/quoted MPG city driving average of about 17mpg and 22 or so highway mpg and a gas tank that holds 17 gallons (or is it 16?), I expected to be able to make it into to 300 total miles range as I do have some highway driving as well and I use cruise control just around the posted speed limit...so again no crazy hard driving.

My BMW 530i stated roughly the same MPG 18city/24hwy and it held 18.5 gallons of gas and I would always get 320-350 total miles.

I guess it all works out about the same since the BMW held a little more gas and had slightly better MPG.

Of course, none of this matter in the end...the pleasure and smiles I get from this P-car is amazing and totally worth the loss in MPG :-)

The positive way to look at it is the more I have to fill the car up, the more opportunity I have to stare at it and smile

 

310 Miles on highways, about 280ish on my daily commute which is 60/40 highways/city

 

Mine is mostly city 13 mpg. Around 200 on a tank. I try to drive sensibly. It sucks but better than the 7 I get in my 5.9L V8 91 Grand Wagoneer which is my winter vehicle.

 

'09 C2S Stock - Avg 24mpg between City (25%) / Highway (75%).. NorCal/Bay Area. Typically as soon as the car hits 300 miles on the odometer I look to refuel, but if I'm doing a pure highway trip it sometimes makes it to 320 or 335 before I hit the low fuel warning.

PS - what's with the text "Consider Remaining Range".. was that some lame translation from German? How about just "Refuel".

 

I'm curious about this advice. Does the pre-pump or intake hose in the tank float on the fuel? I'd think the pump intake is in the lowest point in the tank sucking up things from the bottom all the time.

I can imagine that running the tank down would suck in things that float on or high up in the fuel, or pull air into the lines, which can be bad.

Can someone clarify?

 

They want you to look at what the PCM have for estimate remaining range so you don't take a road without a gas station for 50 miles, not as common on the US, but very common on Europe.
