Tuning a 997 to maximize mods - what does everyone typically do?
I am also now speaking with Josh about their Softronics software and it seems to show great potential. I'm discussing a post-software dyno run, with my given set of mods, to show real world, non-biased numbers and exact hp/torque curves. i believe seeing this from an ordinary list member would go a long way towards validating their claims. Will keep you all updated.
we'd have to see how many interested parties we had, but it doesn't sound like there's too much wiggle room on the price. again, a volume purchase might change that.
so you know, my experience is this:
Previous SCCA and BMW CCA racing licenses
Track instructor for BSR, Mazda Club, Mercedes Club
10+ years experience in auto-x w/ SCCA & BMW CCA (BMW championships)
Autox instructor for BMW CCA
Years of R-compound and adjustable suspension tuning experience
not sure why one would require the other, but i understand your suggestion.
you're correct, i didn't. my question was based on optimizing multiple exhaust/intake upgrades for the best possible result - whether that be street, auto-x or track.

with all that 'track' experience, u come into a 997 forum asking us what u should do ?
u already spent $$ on headers, cai, cat, and mufflers.. now, u might as well spend money on a tune, too.

BTW what are u hoping to accomplish?
faster lap times ?
Then, like Tqevo suggested, get better brakes, lighter wheels, take out the useless weight, etc.... or just get a GT3
just want a faster 1/4 mile car ?
get a TPC turbo kit or trade it in for 996/997 turbo and build the crap out of it.
anything else on a NA 997 C4S is a waste of money.

But that's just MY opinion.. and it's YOUR money.
sure. why not? this is my first 997 (5th porsche) and it would be ignorant of me to assume i know the car better than others who've had more direct experience with them. initially, i guess i was looking for first-hand accounts of people who had tuned, after adding the mods, but that seems to be a very small crowd. you are right though, with what i have done so far, i should (and will) just do the Softronic tune and see the results for myself. i guess it could have been a case of 'thinking out loud' and being too close to a keyboard at the time. at least my thread seems to have amused you.
i apologize if i came off rude.
u should definitely make the most out of the mods u already have with a proper tune.. and Softronic seem to be the popular choice.
looking forward to the 'before and after' dyno.

i should have put a grin after my last statement. i was not intentionally being snippy back myself. i was just saying the thread seems to have amused you in some way - so at least it did that. no worries.
