Do you check pressure with gauge or rely on tpc?

Most tire companies I've used simply make the pressure average on all four and never use the information in the door for tire pressure. The tire valve caps were all different and were the cheap kind so that was a clue.

From what I read, it should be 33/39.

thanks
I don't trust the TPMS for absolute pressure values, but I do think it is good for telling you changes in pressure. i.e. If TPMS says 40 psi, I don't assume there is really 40 psi in there. I measure the pressure with a gauge and keep a mental correlation. But if TPMS reads a pressure less than it read yesterday, its a good assumption that you lost that psi difference. I check the tires myself every 3-4 weeks.

wow, lot's of great info!

I have summer tires, 19", and key west has a lot to desire in service from tire companies. More than once I've had to have them flip a tire because they didn't read the tire remarks, they had mounted them backwards on my old mustang.

I'll try the door sill cold pressures, 39/44 then see what happens. Otherwise I'll try a bit lower. Right now I feel every pothole a dimple big.

When I swap tires (winter/summer or reverse) I air up the cold tires to the pressures the TPMS system wants in the +/- display, after having told it what type tires I have installed and the system has relearned them. Do not use the PSI numbers from TPMS to set tire pressures, those are informational only. I then verify the pressure is where it should be with a own gauge at the stem.

Don't! READ THE MANUAL! The recommended pressures are 33/39. No wonder you feel every stone...

BlackJack out of Missouri has a really good digital gauge. Google it. Always check with an external gauge - monthly.

I tried the 39/33 and the car tells me I have a flat tire, lots of red exclamations and -amounts for air pressure. I put it up to 42/38 and the car system is happy.

I have a $20 analog gauge, but I just ordered a $40 digital gauge to be more accurate.

You may have done this but you do have to reset it.

hmmm... try re-setting with 'partial load' to get rid of the warning lights
