"Waterless" coolant
"Waterless" coolant
I was watching Wheeler Dealers last night and they were restoring a TR-6 (one of my favorite Brit cars). One of the things done was to replace the traditional anti-freeze/water coolant with a waterless type after a complete clean and purge of the system which never needs replacement, since it is totally non-corrrosive. Another stated advantage is that since it doesn't contain water, it has a much wider operating temperature range and doesn't over-pressurize the cooling system. Since there is no scheduled requirement to change coolant in our cars, I'm wondering if the waterless type coolant is installed at the factory. Also, anyone here have any experience with stuff aftermarket?
The Porsche coolant on the 997 never needs being replaced (or so rarely). I think it moots the point of going with an alternative which has not been approved by Porsche on their engine.

Zee coolzing system needz no scheduled change b/c all zvill suffer a cracked tank, bad cap, bad pressure reliefz valve, broken vaterpump or cracked radiator from zee pothole or park curb zomeday. With each comes a zizable if not entire dump of zee contentz. So, zhey all get refreshed at repairz.
