Front Airbag sensor and driver door window issue

I have an airbag light on for a fault that a shop scanned as front airbag sensor (which I am told is behind the front bumper). Is this a common failure and is there anyway to verify that it is because of a sensor, rather than a code that can be cleared? I have never heard of a sensor behind a front bumper going bad. I do have to code or use a porsche computer to turn it off once a new sensor is installed? The price is outrageously expensive and I really dont feel like getting scammed for something that may have been cause by low voltage (when I had a bad battery), and can be reset for free.

I think it is the "Acceleration sensor" p/n/ 997-618-223-02. DOes the front bumper need to come off the car to install this?

Also,

On my driver door, I just started having an issue with the window. The interior door handle is supposed to push in a pin (for the microswitch) to tell the window to raise when the door is closed. The door handle is not very tight and does not produce enough force to push in the pin when the door is closed. When i push the door handle in, or open the door, the window drops and raises like its supposed to, so I would imagine the microswitch is not the issue, but rather the mecahism that pulls the interior handle inwards. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

wow, i had no idea these even existed. under the (passenger?) headlight apparently. here is a thread from renntech with pics

so yes the bumper needs to come off to swap it out but that is a 15min job to take off. i have a feeling you will need to clear the faults also - find someone with a durametric. heck, you might even try to clear the code first to see if it clears the light.

well, i updated the door handle to the updated mechanism. THe original design apparently had mass failures...

Now onto the acceleration sensor. Is there any chance in hell that I dont have to remove the entire front bumper cover to get to this thing? I really dont want to break any part of my gt3 front bumper in an attempt to fix this on my own.

this didnt look like a 15 min job.... looks like a bunch of PITA clips and tabs that I will manage to break and screw up a $2k bumper.

you won't break anything. if you're that worried, just get a friend so that there is someone with you to help support the bumper/make sure it doesnt fall or get scratched. trust me, it's easy.
