Never let idle to warm up??

RaidersR1, I'm willing to bet it's your Mass Air Flow sensor in the the engine air filter box. The MAF probably just needs to be cleaned. (Do you use an after-market high flow air filter, like K&N; if so, your MAF may be getting dirty). I think this is not related to whether or not you let it warm up for a while before driving off.

Letting it warm up only does one thing... it takes longer to warm up (since the engine isn't working but just idling) and it thus just wastes fuel and pollutes the nearby air needlessly.
Start it up and drive it off. Driving it will warm the engine faster than sitting there.

easy. it's a 3 step thing:
- start the engine
- open the cab roof
- drive it like a toyota camry until oil temp reach 200
you don't have a cab? then no clue how long you have to wait before driving it

Didn't think that amount of dirt would get in there.

Glad you got it sorted...I guess that tells you how effective your CAI is in filtering out dirt.
