Opening trunk ....

When I was sitting in my driveway this morning, I went to open the trunk, and that flimsy little plastic button that you pull up on, flew off. My question is, does one need to replace that entire plastic unit with the 2 buttons? Besides being a pain in the a#s how would one open the trunk if your keys didn't remotely do it? Sometimes, I marvel at the cheap approaches Porsche use on parts of the interior with these wonderful cars.

Thanks in advance.

If there is nothing left of the button, yes you will. The scuff plate does not have to be replaced though. Suncoast Porsche sells 'em with and without the scuff plate. Might want to consider the scuff plate with the buttons as plate is probably looking a little the worse for wear if it's like mine. There is a DIY on this site I believe for the R/R of the scuff plate and the buttons. Simple install.

There is a trunk release latch left side of drivers side seat by the sill plate

Yeah mine has popped off before too. Now it is attached with only one leg. Still works but I'm careful when I operate it. I use my thumb to push down on the hinge point while I lift up the tab with my finger. One of these days I'll get around to replacing it and the DIY replacement is very easy.
