ECU reset?

I just upgraded from stock air filters to K&N filters. Should I unhook the negative wire to my battery so my ECU will reset and work better with these new filters? Does this generate any errors as I do not the tool/software to clear errors and need to keep my car running.

Not sure on whether an ECU reset is required.

It will throw up some errors when you first turn the car back on, but as soon as you drive ~30ft they will go away.

I have noticed a difference with every other car when switching from stock to K&N or similar air filters, so I was surprised to read that others on this forum did not notice a difference. Then it occurred to me that perhaps the ECU needs to be reset. I don't know, I am brand new to Porsche cars, but thought I would ask.

Aftermarket air cleaners/filters on the 997 really don't do anything for performance...maybe more noise but nothing to enhance performance that would require an ECU learning cycle.

Thank all of you for your comments. I went ahead and did an ECU reset last night and then drove the car for about 35 miles. I would say that I could feel a positive difference in the performance, engine had more power, rev'ed more quickly, nicer response. May be somewhere less than 1 mpg better as well. I drove mostly between 2500-4000 RPM as it was raining and dark.

Gosh, for about $80 (Amazon Prime), installing these K&N filters and doing the ECU reset is a great value for a modest performance gain.
