Rusty wheel lugs/locks???

All,

I can't believe that out of all car manufactures, Porsche is the one that overlooked coating the lugs/locks to prevent what I consider to be an embarrassing eyesore.

Does anyone know/recommend any specific set of lugs/locks to replace the ones on the car? I'm not sure if they can be refinished, or if I should simply get another set.

Thanks!

The galvanized bolts do get unsightly after a while.
You can get decorative caps to cover them or there are aftermarket stainless and titanium replacements that can cost upwards of $600.

No man I'm not that crazy, they are just bolts. I'd like a set of stainless steel, or coated bolts, I just don't know where to find them or which ones to go with, but certainly nothing on that price range.

For $600 they better come equipped with a vagina or a set of lips

I have read most just Paint them, a few others use the Caps. Mine still look like new, but I might try caps.

Have a look at these. I'm still trying to decide.
The Tikore's are expensive but that's when you use the "skip a mortgage payment" option

Spray Paint works just fine and will look as good or better than original.

If only the caps fitted the wheel locks :/ they would be ideal!

I hear you, I hae yet to find a place that makes caps that fit the wheel locks.

Spray paint may have to be redone every couple times you take your wheels on and off, but how often do you really do that? I have Black wheels and want my Lugs to be black so I want caps. I do not want to paint them because I also have the Sport Classic rims so for those I want Silver.

I have never had a car that had bolts that do this, most look New 5 years later.

Precisely my point, how does porsche overlook something so simple??? The lugs on Honda civics don't do this.

If your replacing tires every year due to tracking or if your switching to winters every season, it doesn't take much to wear off the galvanized coating.
I doubt Civics are removing the wheels 2-3 times a year.

Go to Suncoast or Sunset Imports. I believe they sell stainless steel and black versions. Ebay also has them too specifically for 997.
