This all depends on what you are willing to pay for. It wont be THAT hard to get a 2006/07 C2S CPO for under 50k. I would expect to have roughly 30-40k on the clock. It wont be a beauty queen but its very doable.
As for the IMS issue, it really doesnt happen that often. And From what I have read it doesnt seem to ever happen past 2005.

I agree the IMS might be rare, but it happens enough to steer me away from the 997.1, that along with all the other upgrades for the 997.2. It does happen past 2005, it just doesn't happen as often. I have read about it happening after all the updates as well. Your rolling the dice IMO.
Keep in mind a 2006/2007 will have no more than a 2 year CPO, he could easily get a Cayman S with 3 years or more left on CPO plus Original Warranty.
Just my opinion, that is why the OP asked, we all have different Opinions.
