Caliper Repair

I set out to do a simple brake pad replacement which turned into a mess. Apparently the dampening pads can get stuck/rusted into the caliper. I used a long screw to thread all the way through - pulling the stuck part out of the caliper. This worked great until I went to the second wheel. Same problem but this time when I used the screw to pull the damper out of the caliper the screw broke. I tried to drill out the screw which worked well until it started to drip oil. So, apparently I screwed the caliper up and need a new one or a place to repair.

Loking online has turned up nothing. Was not sure if anyone has ideas.

Thanks.

PMB Performance in Utah http://www.pmbperformance.com/catalog.html is the one-stop brake restoration business for Porsche. He did the calipers on my Six and they are works of art. Not sure if he does new P-cars but can't hurt to try. Eric Shea is the man when it comes to brakes.

If he can't handle it, salvage yard for a used caliper.

Thanks. I will give Eric a call in the morning. I am also calling someone who has rebuild kits with the pistons. I will post my results when found as there are no other posts about caliper repairs.

It was the front and it was on an "S" model. Apparently the S and non S are different in the diameter size of the piston. The Larger being 44mm and the smaller being 36mm. I spoke with Paragon Products and they have the piston which includes the seals for about $25. So far they have been unbelievable with the knowledge, speed and help provided. I will have a summary when this is all fixed.

Paragon came through. I replaced the bad piston in about 10 minutes and the caliper was on the car in about 30 minutes thereafter.
