absolutely. not only have i seen it reported here and on RL, i just saw it firsthand trackside this past weekend on a '10 turbo (while trying to diagnose another issue with a durametric). he had close to a 1000 R1 hits but nothing in the higher ranges.

I'd suggest that the PDK (or any dual clutch) will prevent overrevs, just as it would prevent stalling from being in too high of a gear at too low of a speed. The fact that it is even registering 1's, tells me this is built into the software to allow it. So this is either a desired function to allow the low overrevs, or it is a problem with the software.

Either way - the PDK will ignore shifts that harm the engine.

Update

Update: Car now has 58K miles on it.
I have had no engine issues whatsoever....the engine burns through almost no oil at all (unlike my last 2009 997.2).
It is daily driven and has provided immeasurable joy in my life.
