(Obviously, not discussing track speeds here, because 200mph isn't that fast, relatively)

I'm only asking, because depending on the road, going too slow can be just as dangerous as going too fast. And in some countries, the speeds vary greatly than in the US.

(hint: check the OP's location)
if there are trucks sharing the same road(as the op stated) then 200mph or KPH is not going to be safe IMO.

I m not the world traveler but I would find it hard to believe that many roads would support 200 kph/mph speeds. I m sure there are some but Just the fact that you d have to share the road with people who are barely qualified to have a lic..?? Don t know.
Whatever, I m not trying to dis anyone as I have been know to have a heavy foot too at times. Some people are just not aware of how much distance it takes to get your speed back down or stop. That s my point. Not sure if we are now talking about 128 mph or 200 mph.
Speed limits in the Philippines

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The general speed limit in the Philippines is 60 km/h as its minimum and 100 km/h is maximum, although 120 km/h is still allowed

No super highways there.

however, what is high speed is relative.

125 mph is not that fast.. on a track

but it is too fast when u r in next lane to a truck traveling at posted speed on public road

To answer the OP's question: Just braking/steering would be all u can do in this emergency. After all, the fact that u don't have to do anything manually with gears in emergency is another reason to drive an auto tranny.

There are speed limits here in Phils.and we have expressways cerbo is correct with the speedlimits. I am not sure what cerbo means as superhihway but our expressways stretch more than 50kms. One explanation i can assume is the truck is not used to cars like ours and thought the white dot was still far and he could overtake a still slower vehicle, or hes just a fu..ing a..ho.. The funny side of this event was i was with wife and she said she wanted to take a pic of the speedo at 170 then i thought 200 would be better as our cars do this without even breaking a sweat. I usually follow speed limits.
It seems in an emergency concentrate on braking and steering is the best driving tip.

Indeed you should concentrate on the braking .

This was taken on the brakes , that's why it's a bad picture ...

wife's pic is similar very difficult to have clear pic travelling at speed without equipment to hold the camera. but of course that pic shows a much faster speed than 125mph.

The only thing was , I had just gone to all the trouble of putting it into sport , and getting ready to hit 7th gear when I came across traffic and had to slow down .

Without being on the brakes I had some remarkably clear pictures considering all I had was a handheld iPhone and I was semi concentrating on the road

See: Theory of relativity.

Anyway, what I meant was that doing 35mph in a 25mph is speeding (and excessive to some). Doing 35mph in a 70mph is too slow (and excessively dangerous to some). Doing 70mph on certain parts of the autobahn is exceedingly dangerous.

In certain countries that I've visited, there are streets that are widely accepted as having higher speeds than posted (see: Atlanta's 485 as an example).

I agree with the previously posted notion about being around others that aren't aware of physics - and how to drive a vehicle properly... But we can't just ban women from driving.
