Hi Guys

I have a 2006 997, and it has now twice thrown a check engine light with the code indicating something like an evap leak. The first time was about 6 weeks ago and again yesterday. I've always been careful to make sure the cap is tight, and have been especially vigilant since the first CEL. Now that it has happened again it seems like something is wrong and it must be dealt with.

I don't know how to track down this problem, any tips?

About 4 months ago I started having problems with the fuel fillers not giving my car a full tank (I live in so cal) so I went to my Porsche dealer and got one of those collars that goes around the fuel filler port. It does something to the fuel filler nozzles which allows the car to get a full tank. Could that be a source of the problem? If so what to do about it?

I've also read that the gas cap has a seal or o-ring that can get old and dry up, thereby allowing a leak. Any thoughts on if this is a true possibility? Is there a way to replace the potentially offending seal, or do I have to buy a new gas cap. Of course I currently have no idea of what is causing this problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

since this is when the problem occurred, i would start here.

take off the collar and see if the problem persists.

to fill up ur tank, turn the nozzle 90 degrees so its sideways. This will allow u to fill it all the way full without the collar.

turn the nozzle 90 degrees and mine fills full every time.. Have a 65 tiger, same thing
