Well I got some bad news. Dealer determined the sound is coming from the water pump bearing and I need a new water pump
It seems rather early for a water pump as my car is a 07 4S with only 48k miles?!?!
Anyways that was definately the diesel sounding noise I was describing. I just wanted to update everyone.

Based on my research and experience, I would replace mine again at 45k as a preventive item.
Thanks for the update. Bad water pump is fairly common. Some even do preventative replacement around 40k.
No big deal really. If you want to put a third radiator kit on, now is a good time.

Very well worth it? I would have done it the very first day I owned the car had I known about it.
Watch out for your alternator also. I suspect it would go bad around 50-60K. Mine did.
Last note on the water pump: I am a DIY. Contrary to articles, I had to remove my exhaust to work on the water pump. Just FYI.
Does anyone know if the lower temp thermostat is a factory OEM part? Also if they are changing the water pump anyways, is there any extra labor in adding the third center radiator too?
There's extra labor and parts cost for the 3rd radiator. I believe SunCoast has a kit. It's not necessary, but some folks have added it to help keep things cooler plus added piece off mind. I was just throwing it out there since the Porsche coolant is a little pricey and if it was a mod you were considering, now is a good time.
Probably not needed but some say it's a good idea since it keeps the engine temp down even in normal driving. Seems keeping the engine temp low reduces engine risks. I was just wondering if now is a good idea since they are doing the water pump and I could save on some labor cost.
