997.2 Early Manual Transmission Service

I've got 20k miles on the car that me & my wife drive. I'm really thinking about doing an early transmission service on it. I cut the engine oil changes in half (every 5k) as idling around town isn't so good for them.

Has anyone done the manual transmission? I do not see any DIY tips on them. I'm pretty sure the OE fluid is only available in 5L containers which is a PITA for sure.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Perhaps I should just find a local Charlotte, NC shop and have it done...

cool flash is infamous around these parts
I am looking to do same on my 997.2.

Gear oil needed is Shell Spirax ATE S5 which is only available in 5 Gallon jugs and not even available directly at Porsche (and I went to their main dealership in Stuttgart!). I did manage to find it in 1 Liter bottles at some online shops in Poland, CZ and LT and will try to mailorder it from there.

There is a DIY out there for gear oil change on a 997.1 which should work for 997.2 as well.

Regards,
CF

IF you aren't tracking the car I'd do it every 50k or 4 years. What is porsche spec? I want to say on my 7.2 it was 96/10yrs. Most of the gt drivers use Mobil delvac but our cars have a different transmission.
