Doctor K
I'm feeling your pain. I'm looking for my daily driver and have visited so many dealerships in the past couple of weeks. I understand the need to make a profit, but how can you feel good about your job when your main goal is to rip people off.

The two dealers that I thought were honest and helpful tried to play the bait and switch game. Some how their internet connection wasn't working when I needed confirmation of the price. They assured me about the price, color, and options over the phone and that that combo was their best seller so they have 12 of those in stock. What do you know, when you arrive, the car you wanted has been completely sold out. But they have good news, they were able to find the last one left in their inventory and because they only have one their boss wants $2,000 more. If it were up to them, they would give it to me at the negotiated price. Alas, it's not up to them.

To the very few honest car sales people out there, thanks for keeping your integrity. I'd like to meet at least one of you in my life.

To the others, you fu@king a$$holes will get what's coming to you some day. I'd love to take the bullsh!t that they spew and shove it where the sun don't shine!!!

I had a friend that bought a 350Z a couple years back. He told the sales guy that he was looking for a roommate to split the rent. Guess what, this sales guy (we'll call him Sammy) just so happened to be looking for a place to live.

....4 months later, Sammy finally decided to move out...only after taking my friend's 350Z, running $6,000 on my friend's credit card (he had the mail key and was able to rip up the bills), and racking up $1000 in cell phone charges. My friend later found out that he had a couple cell phones in his name.

I hear ya buddy...honesty and integrity in a car dealership is hard to find these days.

where do these people come from?
Not all of us are bad xx911xx, I think that's why when someone finds a good salesperson they keep going back to them. It's hard for us because there is more public information available out there in our business then anything else. You really want to know who is f---ing you when it comes to markup...how about the clothes you buy, the watch you're wearing, the diamond you bought your wife. It's funny how we somtimes fight for 4% and these other places are making 50-115% and they don't have invoices available on the internet. That's just the nature of the beast and even though people have misconceptions about what I do, I still choose to do it. If anyone out there reading this has a salesperson they have worked with before and enjoyed their experience I would hope you go to them again and I'd hope you'd recommend your freinds, family and co-workers to them as well.
It's a shame what some of these dealerships try to pull...some just do whatvee rit takes to get you through the door and make a buck.... not all of us though!

These people still wont give me a discount. LOL Not trying to get anyone upset here but you see where im goin. Hope that was more funny than offensive.
When was the last time you spent $90k+ on groceries? Your analogy doesn't work. Not to mention the weekly sales and savings from the club club card. Last time I went shopping, they also gave me a coupon for 5% off the next time I shop. If dealerships gave 5% discounts to repeat customers, I guarantee you they'd have plenty of customers. It's kind of ironic that the lowly workers who are paid an hourly wage are more inclined to assist me and make sure I'm happy than some of these salespeople working on commission who think they're doing me a favor just by allowing me to buy a car from them. Of course there are exceptions and to those salespeople, keep up the good work.

Clothes, electronics, restaurants, everything oh forget it. At least you thanked me for keeping up the good work. Highest customer satisfaction score in the highest customer satisfaction dealer. All you guys would love me! We should all just kiss and make up seriously. I understand how everyone feels. It's a 2-way street though. It just hurts ot see all the dealer bashing when there are sales peole that really do make a difference. I try but can only do so much. (good point with the grocery thing though I guess you got me lol)

Zemdogg:

It might help if you started by taking "It's only illegal if you get caught". Not something that a honest salesman should have on their tag line uh?

I too am a little amazed...

that the value of the Maserati is a shock to you. You didn't see what was happening with the used ones before you singed up for this one? It should have been apparent to you from the git that the resale on these cars is hideous. Sad thing is, it ain't that much worse than many other great cars in the marketplace. Seen the value of an 03 996, or 03 MB SL, 04 S class lately? All of these are great cars, with just WAY too much product in a soft market. If you want to play in this neighborhood, these are the risks you take. The dealer might be able to give up a bit more discount on the Porsche, but he isn't setting the market for used Maseratis. Most folks on this board, or similar ones, will be the same people that scream "I'm not paying that kind of money for a used car! It's probably been abused, wrecked, smoked in sat in, conversed in, ( fill in your own blank) and I ain't paying it." It's just a tough situation all the way around. Don't you think the dealer would rather have a happy customer and make another sale if he can? I don't think he can stay in business on one customer or one gross profit.
Drive and enjoy, or pay and get what you want. Next.

.....although it sounds like his complaints/tactics were worth it....he's now got the 997 in the garage. While we all love and are emotional about cars, the buying process is a business transaction, and sometimes you have to walk away at least once to get the best deal.
