ECU flash vs dyno tuning
ECU flash vs dyno tuning
So I have the VF engineering supercharger with a couple of mods and the flash that came with it. I had a friend who basically told me I can flash all I want, but I still need to dyno tune it. What is the difference between having a company flash my ECU based on the parts that I have compared to having a company run it on the dyno? Is it more of an advantage to run it on a dyno and have them redo my map????
Everything being equal, Dyno tuning is better than an off-the-shelf flash. Dyno tuning will be specific to your vehicle, climate, mods, fuel, and elevation; whereas a "generic" ECU flash is designed to work with the car, but not optimized for that car. It's critical that the Dyno tuner have experience in Porsche tuning, IMO.
Thanks! I'll definitely have to see if there's a reputable dyno tuner in my area. Let me know if anyone has any experience with this. I'm in the Lancaster County, PA area (or Philadelphia). Thank you!
In theory dedicated tune is better than generic but it all swings on the talent of the tech and the gains to be expected are small. Crap shoot if you ask me. I would not bother. Reflashed ecu should accommodate individual engine differences imo. What does kit manufacturer say?
