CPO: to renew or not ?
"If the Porsche Approved vehicle is purchased while the qualifying Porsche vehicle is still under the new vehicle limited warranty, the maximum coverage is up to six years or 160,000 kilometres, cumulative from the date the vehicle was first put on the road, whichever comes first. If the Porsche Approved vehicle is purchased after the Porsche new vehicle limited warranty has expired, the maximum coverage is up to two years or 80,000 kilometres from the date of the used vehicle retail sale, not to exceed a cumulative total of 160,000 kilometres from the original retail delivery, whichever comes first. The new vehicle limited warranties applicable to your Porsche vehicle are primary until they expire."
The paragraph above came directly from the PORSCHE Canada web site.
"Certified Pre-Owned Warranty is 2 years / 100,000 mls (160,000 km), once the vehicle is outside the original vehicle warranty period. "
This was from the Porsche USA site.
Both CPO's expire when the car hits 6 years regardless of how many miles are left on warranty.

My dealer covered 50% of the extended warranty as a goodwill gesture given my situation which was fantastic

My thinking is not to renew CPO. 2 years goes by
so fast vs the mileage most people use on their Porsche. I would gamble that the low mileage per year is would lessen the chance for wear and tear and the need for cpo

I agree. But given my own personal experience with a scored cylinder and from that I've seen happen to my friends cars, it was more peace of mind to have coverage on this new engine Porsche put in. I'm not concerned about the wear and tear since that's not covered under CPO. Signs of a scored cylinder were present at 30,000 miles and with my new engine, I'm almost positive I will drive 30,000 miles within the next two years.

I would recheck your warranty on that new motor. I purchased a 997 in September that had a brand new motor put in by the dealer and it has a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on the work that was completed (not the clutch however). I was told all OEM hardware that is replaced comes with this warranty when performed at the dealer.
