Crossing the line?
Well I actually already had my hands on the bumpers before I posed the question about doing the "GT3" look, and once I saw that people wouldn't be offended I jumped the gun and made some rash purchases here in Texas.
The 997.2 taillights I actually got them to hold, but the exhaust got put on a truck yesterday afternoon.
So now I am definitely committed to the center exit rear bumper.
I think you should do what you want with YOUR car. If you like the look then go for it. there are many that have put gt2 rear decks and gt3 front end. hey it was a factory porsche part...so why not put it to good use and install it on another porsche :0)
Here is mine and I absolutely love it, wouldn't have it any other way.
I was going to post a "You don't need anyone's approval" response, but then if you didn't need someone's approval you wouldn't have posted would you. You're car, you're life, do what makes you comfortable.
Here is the thread:

And in my opinion, Any oem Aero is acceptable as long as you don't poser badge it. My recomendation would be go with "911"

Not looking for "acceptance", more what the general thoughts were on changing up a car to look like another. I already had the gears in motion before I posted this ad, I just wanted to hear what the "Porsche" enthusiasts would say.
Ok, so my wifes uncle got into a fender bender this weekend in his GT3 RS and they are replacing front and rear bumpers. The bumpers are repairable and I want them bad... The body shop said I could have them, but I don't want to perpetrate with a "FAKE" GT3 look. This is a great opportunity for me to upgrade to 997.2 tail as well as exhaust. Would it be sacreligous to put the bumpers on my car and order the RS wing to match? As long as I don't badge it as a "GT3" wouldn't it be acceptable? I know this is a HEATED subject with Porsche owners so I really want to know what you guys think...

I'm actually doing some beta testing for a company that just starting producing the exhaust.
I'm going to document the entire process, and video the install as well as finished product.
They are half the reason this whole idea got off the ground. Otherwise I would still be driving my car like it was.
Gears are in motion, got a 997.1 rear bumper from a fellow member, and I am using the front I already have. Now I just need the 997.1 GT3 RS style wing and I'll be done with exterior. Wheels came in today, 19x8.5/19x11 GT3 997.2 Replicas going to get powder coated jet wet black tomorrow.
Plans for the motor are IPD competition plenum, 82mm TB, fabspeed competition intake system, lightened flywheel, and the full header back exhaust that I have. Still up in the air on tuning, I have a buddy who does APR, nothing extreme or custom but safe.
Any ideas, send them my way!
