The problem with using the connector w tabs broken for me was that when first plugged it it would register charging. When I went back however I would often be met with both lights lit or flickering showing bad connection. It does not charge under those conditions. If you are going to leave it unattended for any time I would recommend you get replacement connector.

Thanks. Problem for me is I have the Porsche branded CTEC charger and the connector is hardwired to the charger so it can't be replaced. I will take it back to my Porsche dealer and tell them to give me another charger. The tabs seem like a very poor design.

At least I am not the only one. The tabs seem like a poor design.

Forse is infamous around these parts
I've used the Porsche one with no tabs for two years, and it charges properly (solid green light). However, I only use the cigarette lighter socket, which seems to hold the plug pretty tight.
