New to Forum/Filter Changes at 9000 miles

I am new to the forum and have been gobbling up all the great info on it. I have had a 2007 997.1 C4S Cab since new. It is a fair weather car and is not driven much: 9000 miles in 7 years. While the warranty was in effect and until last, the car was dealer maintained. What finally convinced me to perform my own maintenance, was a quote from my local dealer for CAD1800 for a major service: oil/filter, plugs, air filter, cabin filter plus some inspections. I just changed the air filter and the cabin filter, which was not too challenging. I was amazed by the crap that was stuck in the filters. Considering the small cost of the parts, I will be changing filters every season, irregardless of mileage. Here are 2 photos of the old filters. I was unable to pull this connector off and gave up in fear of breaking it. I was able to twist the air box 90 degrees and change the filter. For the next time, how does one remove this connector? The other connector had a metal clip which I pulled out and then I lifted the connector straight up.

Porsche charges outrageous prices for those services. It can all be done for about $5-600.00.00 in parts. I changed oil/filter/cabin air and engine air plus plugs, and while they were out, the ignition coils for around $600.00. Should've done the belt while box was out but had forgotten to order one. Took about 6 hours but at least I wasn't paying someone $150.00/hour. BTW, the MAF can be cleaned without removing it in an "08. With the box out you can see the electrodes and spray them with MAF cleaner.

So, today I finally figured out how to disconnect the MAF sensor - so easy when you know how. Place your thumb on the middle of the connector just where the rubber sleeve ends and your index finger in the same position on the back of the connector. Press hard with your index finger - the area you are pressing is slightly raised, and CLICK. Lift the connector straight up. Reverse - insert plug until it CLICKS. Done.

In light of the chance the MAF could be damaged or soiled while removed from the air box, I leave it where it is and just remove the connector.
