Considering ditching the 997.2 C2S for new Cayman S
 

As the title says. Whats' your feedback? I prefer the driving experience of the mid engine car. The 997.2 is a PDK car and I'd be switching to a three pedal car (preferred).

I've been kicking myself for not getting the better looking (subjective) fully optioned Cayman S from the get go. I just don't want to regret not having the elusive 911 big brother.

I drove a 2000 Boxster S for 12 years and now a 2009 C2S...... the Boxster was a much more fun car to drive.... way better chassis. To be fair, I have not tracked the C2S yet but did many weekends in the Boxster S.

I actually find the C2S a bit of a disappointment after driving such a perfect chassis. I think they dummed down the 911s as they raised the price to fit into the older poser market.

Tough call. I have a 2006 C4S, manual, and a 2014 Cayman S with PDK. I have considered trading in the C4S for a Boxster S, with manual. If I had to choose between the two I have, I would keep the Cayman S.

If you go the Cayman route, you won't be disappointed.

The 918 S is a great car and I do miss the Boxster. That being said I definitely prefer my 997.2 but that's just me. You won't be disappointed in the Cayman. Good luck!

Cayman 981 is hard to beat for value, but then again so is a 2014 Stingray. Buy what moves you. I really like the 997, but the 981 has really turned into a stunning looking car with great performance. There really is not that much that is "big brother" about the 911 any more, apart from the price, and most people can't tell a Cayman from a 911 anyway.

I hate that I completely agree with you. The 997.2 is very quiet and the PDK is far too conservative for fun.

A 981 Cayman may be perfect.

sounds like you really want a manual cayman. Get one. Also do you mean "subjective" rather than "objective"?

I was really looking for real world feedback specifically on the car as I've only driven the Cayman for short periods of time. I don't have any long term feedback from folks who may have owned both.

Cayman is still the Boxster hardtop that's bought for rich Daddy's little kids.

I'm thinking of making the switch as well, especially considering I have the 997.2 non-s... I love my 911, but I had a quick drive around Barber Motorsports Park recently in the new cayman s and couldn't believe how great it felt.

I have been reading a lot about the new cayman GTS and most reviews/editorials are stating you are actually getting more of a bargain with all of the standard options on the GTS that would be extras on the S, as well as +15hp. Some are even claiming the GTS is the best sports car ever built by Porsche (I'm only stating what I've read not my opinion).

But then I look at the 911... and it's so damn hard to think about getting into something considered by most to be the cheaper little brother. Personally, I think the new cayman looks amazing though. Time will tell, but I'd also really like to hear other's opinions. Owning a Porsche under their manufacturer's warranty would be nice as well...

I wrestled with the same decision before purchasing my 997.2.

The Cayman felt more agile, but the 911 felt much more powerful. Plus at the end of the day the Cayman would never look as good to me as the 911 does.

I drove a new 2014 Cayman before buying my 2011 911 4S. I thought the interior felt small and the cars ride was very choppy. The standard Cayman was definitely under powered in my opinion. A new Cayman S with minimal options cost $75,000 +. Decided to go with the 2011 911 4s with 6,000 miles and loaded with options for less money.
