Help! The forbidden fuit has been tasted!
Keep the 997S....I have seen the 996's all over the P-car lots now...You can get a better deal by selling your S(easy as pie) and sticking it to someone on a used 996 turbo...
Be patient and you will make the right moves without getting introduced to "Sally" from prison!

there will be people looking to buy 996 all day long. the 996 Turbo price is very friendly now for new family members.
I don't know how many miles you had on your 997S, but I turned in my 997 with 10,350 miles; a scratch under the front bumper (bad approach angle); pits in the windshield; and a lot of pits in the front from road debris (which really showed on a black car). The dealer gave me $69. The sticker was about $85, so about $16k to drive 10,350 miles.
Of course, I ordered a 997S Club Coupe, so they had a reason to buy the car from me. It is listed for $83k at the dealer.

I would say if you like the 997S, keep it. But, don't keep it just so you can get a 997TT someday because if they start at 145K it might take 5 more years before they approach your budget.
Instead if you want more power, do one of the following:
1. Sell 997S for about $70K and buy a 2002 TT with a few mods already done (or X50) and low miles for around $80K. Only cost you $10K to switch and I don't think the TT will depreciate any faster (probably slower) than your 997S because its already taken a big hit.
2. Sell 997S for about $70K and buy a Z06 for the same price. Obviously first test drive a Z06 (maybe tough to do, you may need to find someone through a message board that will let you ride in their car). While I imagine the power delivery is great (I haven't driven the new Z06 yet, very few have been delivered), the drive isn't as "connected" as it is in a Porsche. Also, there is the obvious interior quality. I wouldn't worry too much about the image but that's just me.
