Do 911 owners generally have a second driver.
IMO, I think it would be very uncommon for anyone to not have a 2nd (or even a 3rd) car.
Regardless of our prize car being a Porsche, a Bimmer, a Corvette, etc., we tend to keep the better car off day-to-day exposure and use the 2nd car (or 2nd-child-car) for when we don't care about dings, sun exposure, getting stolen, etc.

Interesting. I tried to force myself to use the 911 as my driver by selling my second car. Lasted awhile but fell back into my old habit. Now I don't have to get to the airport hours early to troll for safe parking.
I replaced my daily driver Lexus with the Porsche 911 which is now my daily driver. I have another car that is my "special"car (special meaning I only drive it once in a while on the weekends in the summertime. ) I try to keep the miles low on that one and it also gets parked in the garage instead of the Porsche. I think my 911 is jealous that I care more about my other car.
I think it would be pretty difficult to make a 911 a true DD. There's just not enough practicality like with trunk space and interior room. And like many have mentioned, your risk of getting it dinged up is higher, especially in LA. There are certain parking situations I avoid and also it feels good to keep my black GTS out of UV rays in the summer. All those things make it a treat to drive when I do which is several times a week on average.
I have a 2014 Subaru Legacy (company car) and an E36 M3.

X2 There is no way I can go to Costco or Sam's and fit my shopping in the p-car. I have a Range Rover Supercharged as my grocery getter.
When I had only one car, I dealt with dings for just one car; when I have 2 cars and regardless which one I use as DD I have to deal with dings for 2 cars. Just like the other member said, ding is just a fact of life. Having another car doesn't completely eliminate the 997 to get ding'ed. And it only take one careless person from the next car to you to ruin your day.
I know I definitely enjoy driving it more than not driving it! So I just drive it whenever I want to!

When I lived in Michigan I had a DD mainly due to the winters...Now in AZ it is my daily ride. There are places that I will not go and park it and generally put those trips off until the Wife is home and we use her car (which is a lease). That being said I work away from home and only have 6 mos. a year to drive it and rarely if ever have put more than 5k miles on any of my cars in a year.
See for me the 911 would be for special occasions (I wanted to make it my DD but I, like many, am overly protective of it). What's the other car? I must know!
I have a 2005 T4Runner for a DD, primarily for transporting my Doberman Pinscher and my wife calls it her flower truck. I drive my 2009 C2S about three times per week to and from work depending upon the weather (never sees rain) and on the weekends. My commute to work is 17 miles of highway so it is a good chance to warm her up and stretch her legs every now and again.
