Thumbs up NOOB c4S QUESTIONS :D :D

First and Foremost, I am a NOOB.

I want to buy a 911 C4S Cabriolet...and have been looking nationally for a good model and a good price

a) I have been looking at 2009+ newer.... but found a 2006 (996) model with low KMs (50k) and excellent condition... any advice- choose newer or older? Besides the difference of hp (355hp versus 385hp)

Any recommendations from anyone for buying a used one and even insight on which year to choose (my budget allows up to about 2009, even 2010)

Thanks again,
G

b) should I go with Warranty (CPO) if I can get one for the 2009 models that I am looking for... or a cheaper initial cost for a model without warranty... I am leaning towards the cushion of the warranty...

then go with 997.2 (2009+)
997.1 (2005-2008) have known issue about IMS and scored cylinder.
you can search this forum for info about those 2.
those 2 are still very rare (except 2005 that are more prone for IMS failure).
Forums (and people like me) give way to much visibility to those 2 issues that what they should get. Again, they are very rare issues. just do your research before you buy

I have a 997.1, 2006, C2S cab and Im not too worried about those.
just buy the right car. look closely at maintenance history, get a PPI, get the DVE report on the car....
remember, don't buy a price, buy a car...

I bought mine from a Porsche dealer (USA) with 2 years CPO and imported in canada. now my 2 years are expired and I bought a fidelity powertrain warranty (from USA too)

I purchased a 07 C4S cab with low miles. Very happy with it. I purchased a 4 year 48,000 mile warranty from the local Porche dealer for 3300.00

look at Porsche dealers.
Porsche.ca
find used car.
select all provinces.

then look in the USA. same process, but Porsche.com and select USA.
they are cheaper there, but with exchange rate, 6.1% import tax + this this and that. it will be pretty much the same price. but you have way more choices.

Buy the newest you can afford, unless you are looking for the older air-cooled models.
