I’ve been searching for that perfect Carrera (for me) and I'm getting close.
Also doing some additional research but could use some info if anyone has it.

1: If I don’t care to lower the car, can anyone tell me if i can use Bilstein B6 on a non PASM suspension? Is that softer than stock shocks?

2: Has anyone heard of B16 Ride control? I believe it lowers at a minimum 15mm (cant do much about that) but does provide normal and sport at a push of a button. I guess id be installing an aftermarket PASM of sorts....

3: Will Carrera 4 be able to handle a turbo kit at ~6 PSI?
Reason im asking is because in Mercedes and BMW AWD cars (non AMG or M) the front end transfer caser shatters when people install forced induction and they end up with just a RWD.

Okay I'm getting confused here. You want to buy a 4S and then put 25K into the car destroy the resale value, make it ride even further from what you're used to, and any warranty you might have on the car would be gone. Trust me I know about this you DO not want to do that. If you want an AWD car with a turbo, buy a turbo, in the long run it will save you thousands.

No.. I'm thinking of getting a Carrera 4. Once warranty is out I will look at a possibility of getting F/I.

A regular carrera is to harsh for my taste so if I do get it and not something with a PASM I would like to get softer shocks.
I also don't care for resale value, I want to enjoy the car myself. I don't care if the next guy doesn't share my tastes.

Well, I did it. I’m a proud owner of 06 Carrera 4 in Seal Grey with 6spd, Chrono and 40K miles on the clock.
The car is one owner with all maintenance records. Got it from the dealer that originally sold the car, did all maintenance on it as well.

The dealer was 3 hours away from me so had some time to learn the car on the way back. Certainly not an S class but way more fun to drive. I think I will have no problems adjusting to it. I will look in to getting Bilsteins B6, for sure. Its currently just too harsh for me. Carrera with PASM would have been just right in “normal” but could not find S that was just right for me. Found this one and I must say this car is in such a mint shape that unless I pointed two things out you’d never know it was a pre-owned. I like the color allot as well.
One issue I have, and this is something that has been mentioned, and that’s road noise on a long drive. Short trip around dealership is nice and you’re all exited, but 3 hours on highway and the road noise at times so overwhelming that my wife and I could not hear each other. Gave me a migraine that I cannot shake still to this morning. It has pilot sports on it at the moment, I decent shape, but I think I will look in to something like DWS to cut down on road noise.

Took the car to work today, sure was a fun drive. Little loud, but fun.
I will take a few pics soon and explain a little as to why someone would go from owning 5 Mercedes go to car half the size

Congrads, need a pic.
If you switch to Conti DWS s it will soften the ride / noise a lot. FYI, I just did it.

Yeah i had them on 20 inch rims with my S class and i got them for my wife’s CLS as well, quite soft and quiet, but had allot of problems with tires being out of balance even when brand new. had to return them to tirerack for replacement and after storing them for winter they felt like they went eggshaped.
So im cautious about getting them again.

Traded an 05 SL500, heated and cooled massaging seats, hi/low xenons, wood wheel and shift ****, AMG spoked wheels, keyless go on a 9000 mile CPO 2011 911S c2 black on black.
Certain luxuries you take for granted are all options on a Porsche. The car I purchased had most of what I wanted as options if I were to purchase it new. It has the standard seats, but are also 14 way adjustable with heating and cooling. Cooling a must on the coupe imho.
It does not have keyless go but it does have the carbon fiber option, pdk, with chrono plus, sport wheel with paddles, nav, sport suspension, rear wiper, bluetooth and sirius. No auto light shut off as an example of std MB features.
The ride is stiffer and probably a little harder for entry and egress. Overall, no regrets at all. I get in and a smile always lights up my face. Make the jump, you will not regret it!

Yes you certainly lose some things. My S class was fully optioned and i do miss some of the options but the sport feel of Carrera just puts a smile on my face. Benz is a great car, but a different feel which after 6 of them i was ready to try something else.

Just need to change the stock non PASM shocks to ease the transition
cant seem to find enough info on what shocks can make the ride a smigit softer.
