About to be a new owner of a 997 and have a few questions
Hi all,
I am about to pull the trigger on a 997 S and have a few questions. If anyone has any advice that would be great.
The car has 7,500 miles on it and the only thing I can find wrong with it is broken or disengaged horizontal vent louvers, all of them. Is this a common problem? Is there anything I should be looking at that are known issues with this car?
Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a warranty company for this car. Usually I wouldn't bother but it might be a little piece of mind for the first year as I get to know the cars personality and if anything major happens like the engine blows up.
Thanks in advance for any help! hopefully will be a new 2006 911 S owner this week.

But really the only question that really matters is... What were the results of your PPI?
Definitely PPI and I would hope they have documentation to support the 7,500 only miles. That car should look like it rolled off the showroom floor. All fluids, including a brake flush and filters and likely tires need to be replaced.
Low mileage is good but it still need proper maintenance and regular fluid need to be change (oil/filter) yearly regardless of the mileage. You must do at least a PPI and DME report for over rev for sign of abuse, but at 7500 miles I would be more concern with rear main seals for sign of oil leak due to extensive stagnant storage time. If the maintenance and service records are good "BUY IT"
Thanks for all the great tips guys! Unfortunately I have decided not to buy that car and continue my search for a good 997. In the end everything checked out, vin, service history just had routine maintence done at the dealer including tires and fluids, new battery, a sensor replaced ect...
Did not have a chance to get a full PPI due to the fact the seller and I could not come to an agreement on the value of the vehicle. I was willing to pay a premium for a low mile car with all the maintence done but this guy thinks he is selling a 991 instead of a 997. He would not budge off of 62k LOL and I wish him the best of luck getting that.
Again thanks for all your help! Hope to find a car soon

You did a very smart thing by walk away, at $62k you can buy a well equipped 997.2 with 20-30k miles. Heck, I sell my car to you for less than that with 15k miles and some exterior tasteff mods
Good move OP.
62k is too high.
I brought a 07 4S with similar mileage for way cheaper. Low mileage is not an issue as long as its maintained and PPI checks out.
Good Luck with the search....always the fun part.

Agreed, maybe $50k max if 100% pristine. Late last year my wife and I bought a pristine CPO 997.2 S-cab with only 19K miles for $70k.
