wheels questions(offsets)
wheels questions(offsets)
2009 997.2 C2S.
I have Turbo II wheels that came on this car factory ordered.
Was thinking of another set of wheels for winter/summer.
Called wheel place to see the offsets and I am confused
.
They said that the wheel I have is the "rarest of rare birds". Offset is supposed to be 57/67 with 19 X8.5 and 19 X 11 on a C2S. So my question is that any wheel I chose should be 57/67 if I wish to keep the same fitment?
Any info or link would be appreciated. Thanks.

They are correct about the numbers on your offset, but they are wrong about them being rare - for 997.2 Porsches - since that is the normal offset for all of the narrow body 997.2 wheels. You can verify this by looking at the offsets available for your car in various places including the Porsche TEquipment site at http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...es/tequipment/ (I double checked to see if they were all the same).
I guess I should add: You have some latitude in offset since many of us use spacers front and rear. Assuming the "standard" you see on the forum of 7mm front and 15mm rear, you could use wheels down to a 50 (57 minus 7) on the front and 52 (67 minus 15) on the rear and get the same effect as having that much of a spacer.
TireRack, as well as many of our sponsors and members here, could help provide you with a fairly good-sized list of wheels that would fit.
Finally, they were right in the sense that our wheel sizes and bolt patterns are rare in the automotive world (does any other car use our wheels sizes?) and that money of the more commonplace wheel dealers won't have anything to fit.

The last thing for now... I remembered seeing a cool wheel/tire size calculator somewhere and found it here: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp It can help you understand the effects of changes in widths/offsets/diameters.
Those are the oem sizes which are conservative. You can definitely go with a different offset if you want flush fitment. +45 and +52 for the rear is a nice offset for your C2S. Please PM me if you need more help.
