Quote: Oh shats! Give us a review of the C7 Z06!!!
The beastly Z06 arrived today. Now for the long break in process.

Initial impressions: ungodly torque, mad stopping power and grip (CCB's and MPSC2's), interior quality is much better than past Corvettes but still nowhere near a 997.2 (much less a 991 series), suspension is ultra stable but sophistication certainly not at the level of a 991 GT3 (particularly rear axle control)...will know much more when I can drive it harder post break in...

I'm sure you've read all the GT3 vs Z06 write ups. Let us know how things compare in real life! (I used to have the .1 GT3 and it wasn't all that at the track. Now I have .2 C2 with KWV3's, thick sways, and Pagid yellows with PDK and it's faster on the track than even .2 stock GT3s.)

Quote: Nice Z8 Shammerman. You don't see many of them on the road. How has it been as far as reliability?
Thanks! For the most part quite good. With close to 100,000 miles I have some repairs done. RMS leak at 82K, not that expensive to fix and did the clutch kit at that time as well as it was cracked open. There has been some trim pieces etc. and I have always taken care of everything immediately as to keep the car in top shape at all times. on expensive issue was the failure of the neon taillights (know issue), but BMW NA offered a nice 35% courtesy discount for parts and labor even with high miles and not being the original owner. At the end of the day it is somewhat of an exotic or at least quite rare car with about 1,000 remaining in the US that can be serviced at any BMW dealership with same labor rates as a BMW 3 series. Love the car - I don't think I will ever sell it.

I agree that a well sorted 997.2 CS will give a .1 GT3 a run for its money - the driver and tires will make most of the difference...

One thing to note is that I just realized the MPSC2's on the Z06 are run-flats whereas on the 991 GT3 they are not... explains some of why I am sensing the rear tires on the Z06 seem to hammer over the pavement whereas the GT3 dances lightly...

Man, that torque must be something else. Did you get manual? I had a SL65 AMG that had 738lb TQ. Miss that the most.

owned 2 lotus esprits at different times. The esprit S4 is an awesome auto. They are a bit outdated now. The turbo 4-cyl. can go incredibly fast, and lotus does handle incredibly well even in rain. (you can see me going 168 mph in my esprit S4 on youtube. Look under 'lotus esprit top speed'. Look for 'some guy in Florida ....')

You do have to be in 3d gear, and wait for the turbo lag, then turbo to kick in, then you get amazing speed. Was about to get another, but no navigation, no automatic transm. with PDK, no backseat for kids, weaker brakes, so went with the Carrera 4S !

-2003 Audi RS6. Loosely defined as a sports car, but...
-1987 Toyota MR2. Now a rolling chassis, but formerly sporting a 20-valve 4A-GE blacktop engine from an AE111-chassis Toyota Levin:

The answer to this question depends on what you consider a sports car. I have a 2014 Audi SQ5 in the garage. It's certainly faster than my old 996 was and probably faster than many "proper" sports cars. Does that count? I had a 1988 Ford Thunderbird turbo coupe with a 5MT. Does that count? Here are the two proper sports cars that I have owned besides my 997 (2002 911 C4S and 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce):

Fantastic. The way a 911 ought to look. Right size, right curves, perfect proportions. Nice colour too!
