Karl B is infamous around these parts
I have an extended warrenty, they paid $1800 which included trans removal, changing seals, and putting it back together. I paid the extra to install the DOF, new clutch, throw out bearing and arm, and some other wear items. The DOF was $800 plus an hour to install.

Having replaced the RMS seal on my '83 SC many times, please search the web for the "right" installation process. Basically, this requires a tool to ensure it is square and at the correct depth or position. Failing to do so may result to a leak.

I would check threads on how to install a 997 RMS to determine if it requires the same care as on a 3.0 engine.

Did you do the engine/tranny drop yourself? Which DIY article did you use?

Thanks.

Finally got the RMS installed. I am not going to touch the IMS after some research I think the IMS seal is ok. Here is the picture of the old RMS SEAL. It's a thin seal with aluminum sheet inside.

Finish the car today. Replaced presure plate, clutch disk, slave cylinder, bleed brake and clutch fluid.
Car started up fine and clutch seem a little lighter.

My congratulations! I, for one, know how much labor went into the engine drop. One day, I'll use that link and supplement what is needed for an AWD Porsche.

Thank you.
I think it took me about 15-17 hrs total for this project. I learned a lot from this.
