Awesome, great decision to do the ducktail. It really makes the car look special and unique. It's a pricey add on, but like you, the moment I saw it installed on my car I wish I had done it years ago. It just looks that good in person! Worth every penny.

btw, whats the width on your rear wheels and what size tire? great looking car

Thanks man, ya if you like it in pics or are on the fence, it does look even better in person. Had this one not fell in my lap already painted, etc. I probably would never have known or made the effort to get one.

Rears are 305 on 11" rims. Michelin PSS. I like the way the wider tires square off on the shoulder on that rim size vs. being stretched over a wider rim. I do have custom offsets, so that's what is pushing the wheels out to the fender edge. Honestly I loved the look of the stock wheels tucked under a little more after I lowered it, more of a track look. But I had already ordered these.

Great decision Wheeler!
I'm looking to get one for my car too.
Do you know what kind of material does Getty design use to make the part?

Well, the part is actually quite light, lighter than the stock mechanical lid by a fair amount. It APPEARS to be carbon fiber on the top skin and fiberglass on the bottom skin where the fan and parts mount. It's very thin feeling. I can't be 100% sure though. It may just be really well done fiberglass.

The Getty Design Ducktail is mostly fiberglass. They have been around for 25+ years making fiberglass wings for porsches. It is a really well made wing.... BUT... I will say this. If you have ever worked with Fiberglass then you must know that prep work before painting is very important!! There is no such thing as receiving a fiberglass piece and painting right away without good prep, blocking, and sanding. your painter/body shop guy must know how to block and prep it properly to get it looking really smooth. the painter will be the difference between something that comes out looking OEM or something that comes out looking wavey and like a cheap aftermarket piece. I had my painter take extra care with it and to be meticulous and mine came out looking great and OEM quality.

Just got an email back from Mark at Getty Design. The duck tail mainly made of fiberglass and partially skinned with carbon fiber. They also offer priming the part for another $170. I really do agree with qikqbn. A good fiberglass part need a lot of priming. I would pay them a little extra to have them prep it.

Just a heads up, even with the primer service you're still going to have to do prep work to it. My duck came with the primer service and the body shop i brought it to said it wasn't up to their standards and spent some time re-primering and sanding it so it was perfect. I guess just don't be shocked if you end up paying a shop a little to do body work on the wing before they paint it. even with primer service.

Just got mine installed a week ago:
