It may have been a broken wheel from the curb strike(s). Me? I suspect the lugs were loose. He just couldn't figure out why it wasn't getting traction/accelerating or driving normally.

The only thing that would make sense to me is if you said it was a 16 year old kid in a stolen car....

Perhaps his muffler mod generated too much horsepower?

I don't know how this isn't either intentional or some sort of malfunction
