The car is a 6 speed manual.
After jacking the car up, pulling wheels, bleeding valves, adding fluid, pumping up the power bleeder, etc., for each corner, I've decided to let the local independent shop have a go at it. They claim about $100 to resolve. I'm spending money on fluid and my time doing it myself so $100 is a bargain. Hope to drop the car off tonight so they can resolve Monday morning.

That's what I'd do as well.

 

Took the car to the independent shop. Drove out an hour later with working brakes. All sorted out. I regret two things about this issue:
- that I introduced air into the system in the first place.

- that I waited so long to take it to the shop to sort out the issue.
