"Service in 30 days" message on dashboard

Hi,

I swear I did a search but didn't find anything.
Got the message "Service in 30 days" on my dash. First time I have ever seen this.

Does anyone know what this is for?
I am at 46k miles and the last service I had done at the dealership was the 40k service.

Thanks

Iv'e seen this also, and would assume it is an oil service reminder based on time and/or mileage.

If you had not previously seen this kind of message, perhaps your car got a software update after the last major service.

Just my assumptions...

Yup! It's a "Be ready to bend over for the Dealer."

I reset that with my durametric.

VERY good question
Well, in exact 30 days would be the one-year anniversary of the 40k mile service ...

Cool,

is it obvious in the Durametric where to reset this or is it hidden?

That is a message pertaining to a scheduled service coming due in a month approximately. It could be its been 11 months since the last oil change (and PIWIS setting of the reminder interval in the computer). Or it could be coming up on some other service like the 3 year service or something like that.

The computer keeps track of both mileage and time and will show a service notification once the first of those is to expire. The dealer can reset those intervals to a proper value to reflect the next service due with the PIWIS. The durametric solution can only reset the intervals to the maximum major-service interval for the car (20k miles, 2 yrs - on a 997.2) so you won't get the right reminder when the next oil change/etc is due if yo use a durametric to reset the interval.

Got that message on wife's c4 several months ago. It goes off as soon as engine starts so i just ignore it. I change oil every 5K miles and am not going to pay dealer to reset it until i go in for something else. I'm just glad it is not a constant light like most cars have. However most other cars are easy to reset.
