RE: 997 died today post
Just got car back after it sputtering and dying on Sunday. This is what they said:
"Found random misfire in cylinder 2. Swapped coil from cylinder 2 and cylinder 3 to see if fault moved. Fault never returned"
My tech went on to say, "if coil is bad, it's bad. It doesn't go bad intermittently, therfore it was just a bad connection." Should they have just replaced the coil? Could some one explain this to me like a 3 year old. After we spoke I still didn't understand what the hell went wrong.
Thanks.

I had the same problem in my S4 this week. Intermitent misfire on one cylinder. They are replacing the coilpack tomorrow even though it was not misfiring when I brought the car in.
I would tell them you want the coil replaced.

Sounds like your tech hasn't confirmed the root cause. He suspect it's either connection issue or bad coil pack.
Coil pack isn't hard to check. He should be able to check that easily. I'd ask to have the plugs changed
