Window Issues
Window Issues
If I open the drivers door after the car has been in the garage for 8+ hours the window does not drop. When I enter the car and start the engine I can bring the windows down and back up again. The windows will then function normally throughout the day i.e. will auto drop when I open the door. The issue only appears to happen if I have not used the car for approx 8+ hours. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Some diagnostic info that would possibly help:
1) Will the car respond to the key fob lock/unlock button (even if the car wasn't locked) after this 8 hours period?
2) Do the dome lights come on when you open the door?
To conserve battery, after many days (I forget the actual number) the car's computer will go more fully to sleep to conserve power. Maybe your battery is getting weak and it is going to sleep sooner? The reasons I ask the original questions above is that the car will stop responding to the fob if the computer has gone into deep sleep. (If the car is locked, you have to unlock it with the key in the door handle).

Load switch-off after 2 hours or 7 days
If the ignition key is removed, loads which are switched on or are in standby mode (such as the luggage compartment light, interior light) are automatically switched off after approx. 2 hours. The Radio/PCM is automatically switched off after approx. 10 minutes.
If the vehicle is not started or unlocked with the remote control within 7 days, the remote control standby function is switched off (to save the vehicle battery).
1. In this case, unlock the driver’s door with the key at the door lock.
Leave the door closed in order to prevent the alarm system from being triggered.
2. Press button 1 on the remote control. The remote control is now activated again.
It's 7 days (don't know how the 7 is determined though)...but I thought it only went to sleep if the car was locked with the remote. Not all that clear but here's what the book says:

That is my experience with one exception - I do not actually have to unlock the driver's door at the door lock. I simply pull on the door handle and that seems to "wake it up" from the 7 day sleep. The button on the reemote then operates normally. Car is 2005 C2S.
Im with Storm on the battery . Have it load tested, or better yet if you know its 3+ years old, grab a new one to be safe.
If I know I wont be driving mine for more than 3 days or so, I plug in the C-tec into the cig lighter and let it float.

Yes, definitely check the battery. Otherwise you can take a look at our DIY tech articles here and see if one of them might be able to further diagnose your issue.
