Rear Bumper options

I have a 997.1 C4S. I have to replace the rear bumper due to a collision (obviously not my fault). My bumper had the Bumperettes. I am looking for options to replace the bumper, preferably without the bumperettes. I think the only OEM option is the Euro version. Anyone know? I do not want to do a 997.2 conversion and get new lights. I am also hesitant about going aftermarket.

is the Euro-version a mistake? If someone taps the bumper the it will be costly to repair or repaint.......

Before you start to do this search, realize you will have to cut these off since they fit into the bumperette covers.

Gt2 bumper would look cool, or the gt3 rs.

The Gt3 is a center exhaust and I do not want to do that much modification. Will the exhaust line up on a Gt2? Will it bolt on directly to the widebody?

I called Sunset Porsche parts and they said it should be a direct bolt on. Are you sure those need to be removed?

Gt2 is a dual exhaust setup, but you'll need a different set of tips. Other than that, direct bolt on

OK.....So I just checked and it looks like the euro conversion requires a euro aluminum brace without the bumperette humps. The Gt2 would require rerouting the exhaust pipes......I am not sure what the cost is but I am sure it is not cheap.

Yes I'm positive. The bumper will certainly bolt directly on at the same attach points but you'll have to remove these for it to sit properly flush at the rear. I've removed my rear bumper cover 3 times within the past 4 months. The bumperette covers are simply separate little pieces that have tabs that pop onto the larger bumper cover. They are removed easily and leave a hole (two holes, one on each side) that fit the two black pegs you see in my photo. I took that photo two months ago to see if I could do exactly what you are considering.

I think I will just keep it stock. I am also concerned about someone tapping my rear without the bumperettes.

99.9% of cars on the road don't have bumperettes. I wouldn't worry about it. If someone taps your car with bumperettes, you'd be in the same boat... minor damage. If someone hits your car hard with bumperettes, you'd be in the same boat as a car without.

The fact that the place where Porsches are made (Germany) their 911 cars do not have bumperettes should tell you something. If I were you and had to replace my rear bumper anyway, I'd do the Euro version rear no question.
