2006 997.1 4s Clutch question

Could someone help me out and answer if my clutch is actually slipping or something else. Basically when I drive off every morning I get a slight judder at 2500 rpm up to 5th gear when I accelerate. It immediately disappears after 2700rpm. I normally change gears early as I like the torque of the engine. Sometimes when I floor it I get what seems like a clutch slip maybe once a week as the revs climb and engine car catches up. But here is the issue it goes away, I stop at the lights and rev it and launch it and all 4 wheels spin no problem and no clutch slip and go up the gears.

Somedays I can launch and go up the gears to 6000rpm and no issues whats so ever. Can someone shed some light on this ?

I have no oil leaks, however i just performed a oil change. It has 36000 miles on it.

Cheers,

Rayman

how does it behave when in a high gear...5th/6th foot to the floor at city speeds? does it slip then? had the car long? was it beaten? where does the clutch friction point pick up/engage in relation to the pedal? a few inches from the floor? 4" plus from the floor?

give a bit more info.... plz.

Hi Patrick,

At city speeds in 5th and 6th which I am in most of time I have no real issues. I might get a bit of vibration between 2500-2700 from cold. My clutch engages around 3 inches from the floor and the car starts moving.

Far as I know the car was a garage queen from the previous owner. Other than me doing the odd spirited driving that's about it. Been in Canada Vancouver you cant really drive fast with the drivers here. No ones uses there rear mirror or side mirrors, I have always said moving here from the UK that if the car manufactures put the side and rear mirrors as options here they would save alot of manufacturing costs. There is no sense of lane disciple here people drive in any lane without any real thought. On top of that you have to watch out for pedestrians walking out into the middle of the road when they choose. Sorry for rant but wanted to provide as much description as possible.

As mentioned previously, put the car in 6th at around 40-50mph and floor it, you will know then if the clutch is slipping. It's hard to say without feeling the car in person, but you may have a small oil leak developing around the rear main seal or front trans seal that is getting on your friction disk and burning off after some mileage each day. If that is the case, it will eventually get worse and worse.

Driving in Vancouver sounds a lot like driving in Phoenix. I really hate it at times! And then the areas just outside of town in the desert where it would be fun to drive are patrolled by air/helicopter instead!

The rear main seal is there anyway to visually verify that this is the cause ? and the same with the front trans seal ?

Technically yes, there is a small inspection hole but its tough to see anything with. Also, check the slave cylinder area around the top of the trans, this is also difficult to see, but worth looking at based on your issues.
