Porsche C4 997.1 non x-pipe 200 cell
Porsche C4 997.1 non x-pipe 200 cell
Hi all
Its a x-post from another site, but i wanted to share for those who spend their time here as well. so if you already saw this elsewhere, sorry.
When i was looking to do some exhaust work i could never find a non x-pipe 200 cell catalytic converter video. so here is my way of giving back a tad for all I've learned.
Video starts with a morning cold start at 70 degrees. I waited for rpms to drop and gave it just a touch of gas since engine is cold. Absolutely not noticeable when taking it easy and good sound when driving aggressively. Best of all, no loss of power on the bottom end unlike with x pipes since the exhaust gas doesn't have too much room to expand and slow down.
Still a touch raspy for my taste but not too bad. perhaps i'll get a touch more grunt when i upgrade to x51 headers.
Also i think the mic in my phone could not handle the volume at some points and sound was clipped, so perhaps live it really isn't as bad.
I originally got a set of NHP catalytic bypass pipes from a member of one of these sites for dirt cheap. It sounded extremely raspy and it was a bad idea for a DD, had problems breathing. i guess we need to learn from our mistakes
So i decided to get a set of 200 cell cats and have them welded in. All n' all it was still cheaper than getting a set that already made.
I got a set of Magnaflow 200 Cell cats and had Speedriven weld them in.
Since its impossible to find a video of anything other than the x-pipe catalytics i figured i'd share.
The car also has BMC, 82mm TB/Plenum and Softronic tune. Hopping to install RSS Crank pulley next month. And straight elbow between airbox and throttle, tomorrow.
i'll try and make a better video in coming days. :burnout:

Never got around to getting a better video with just cats. But here is one with now X51 headers added. Still stock mufflers.
Allot of the raspiness is gone and a much deeper note. not to mention added power that truly can be felt at low end and upper RPMs.
