Radio/Nav upgrade

I have a 2008 997tt and am considering upgrading my Radio/Nav and would appreciate any recommendations as to which one is the best currently or if there would be an issue to worry about. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2006 911 cabriolet and I just put in a Pioneer AVIC 7100 NAV unit and I love! I have factory Bose, so I had to buy the harness to connect it to my speakers and amp. Cost about 600 bucks but worth it in my opinion! I had an audio shop do the install and it looks factory!

I retained my OE system and added a Mobridge M2 Pro. It now has Bluetooth telephone connectivity, iPhone connectivity, Bluetooth streaming for Pandora and Spotify, etc. it's an elegant and invisible solution if you want to keep a stock appearance.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I already put in a Mobridge about 3 years ago. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and when I get a new phone it is a nightmare to get it connected. After two months of trying, it won't accept my IPhone 6.

Sorry to hear that. Mine works perfectly with my iPhone 6.

If you decide to go aftermarket, then you might consider Focal speakers and amps and Kenwood head units. I used these in my 996 and they were very good.

I had a Kenwood head in my 996 and was very happy with it, but in speaking to many, I ordered an Alpine W957HD and an HUR from Loi at Euro motorspeed and he'll put a plug n play on the radio harness. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will work together

Mine is PCM 2, non-Bose, with CD-C, Nav and Phone.

About a year ago I added the Dension 500S BT and have an iPad Mini connected to it full time via USB. It serves as a music player with Spotify (now Apple Music) and navigation with Google / Waze. So effectively replacing the stock CD-C and Nav; plus everything else you can do on an iPad Mini.

My iPhone 6 is also paired to it automatically whenever I get into the car. I can make / receive calls via the car's control stick on the steering column; it routes calls to the PCM, pauses / resumes music automatically. So effectively replacing the in-car phone too.

One bonus for me for using Dension is that it has an AUX input as well. I meet up and cruise with the local Porsche club member regularity and we all use Walkie-talkie to talk to each other.. So I hooked up to the Dension so that the audio comes thru the car' speakers as well.

And just last weekend I decided to replaced ALL the speakers in the car with JBL set up (2 for the front, 4 for the doors, 2 for the rear; eliminated the centre on the front). Total cost was only about US$300 but the improvement was HUGE with with the stock ASK amp. I might add a subwoofer at some point if I find the right one and a way to mount it safely.

YAHOO!!! All installed and everything works, including my steering wheel controls. The only thing no longer there is the music display on the dash (no big deal, its on the radio) The Alpine unit is a huge improvement over the old PCM w/Bose.
