Sounds like something out of a horror movie...

I know it is not an approved mod by any means, but has anyone ever gutted the catalytic converters on the 997.2 stock headers, or replaced the stock headers with a set of "off-road" exhaust headers that do not have catalytic converters ? How was the sound? Any loss of low-end torque or noticeable HP gain?

what's your goal? do you just want it for sound or for performance?

 

Maybe a little of both, but I don't want to sacrifice performance for sound.

 

Just make sure you realize that if NC does a tailpipe emissions sniffer test like most states it would fail to pass inspection due to excessive carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon readings (and possibly nitrogen oxide as well). Reduced back pressure typically reduces low end torque as well.
