Perhaps someone can shed some light into what I hope is a trivial matter.

Yesterday I attempted to use Launch Control; I had an eager passenger who insisted on experiencing the fun. I drove through some back roads to get the car to operating temperature, etc. I did the proper LC procedure (I've done it before) but this time there was an oddity that took me by surprise.

After PDK holds the RPM and the "LC" message appears, I let go of the brake and the car lunges forward as usual. This time however, the RPM dropped nearly back to idle for what felt like nearly a full second or two before the car began sprinting forward. This mid-launch hesitation never happened before.

I know my tires have about 1500-2000k miles before I have to swap them out, maybe something to do with road grip? Either way, the RPM drop to near idle certainly spooked me. Has this ever happened to anyone before?


Nb I don't use LC often, it had been perhaps a few months since the last time I tried it before yesterday.

 

Was the TC on by chance?

 

PSM was on. I've done LC before with it on without issue in the past. Never tried it with PSM off however.
