How many people run a staggered wheels offset on a 997?IE. 19s in the rear and 18s in the front. and did it bring about any issues or performance disadvantages?

Just curious as to why you would want to do this.

I think there was a thread about this earlier, running 19s in the front and 20s in the back. I also do not understand why anyone would want to do this....

You should not have any problem as long as you keep the over all diameter the same or close to your stock setup.

For example, if you go with a 19/20 wheel setup on a 997, your tires should be:

Front: 235/35/19 = 25.5 inch in diameter
Rear: 305/25/20 = 26 inch in diameter

That's 2% differences which is within the stock tolerance.

Answering the why do this is a lot more complicated. I guess the answer could be because you can? or simply like look of the staggered size or the handling characteristic of the lower sidewalls in the rear which in theory should give you less understeer. Maybe we should ask Porsche why they went with a staggered wheels setup (20"/21") on the new GT3 RS?

Is this on a C2?
A small tidbit on C4 & Turbo 997II is that the conventional front-rear rolling diameter 'tolerance' is not really a tolerance. The car actually likes that 2-3% dif......and if you had something that was close to 0%....you would find it less than desirable.

I would think you run the risk of unsettling the chassis balance. You might take up Russian roulette if you want to add a little uncertainty to your life
