Who has driven 997S and Corvette C6? Comparisons from you...
I've read a few magazine articles comparing these two cars, and recently I had the chance to drive a C6. It was fast, as far as the numbers go, but it didn't "FEEL" fast. What I mean is that it hit 80 quite fast, 110 also, but I just didn't feel slammed into the car seat.
I have not driven a 997 yet. How does it compare? If I'm disappointed in the C6 in terms of acceleration, will I be just as disappointed in the 997?

They are really completely different cars, the Pcar will be more balanced and refined. Plus the fact that Rear Engine RWD cars will drive completely different then a front/mid engine RWD car.
I have driven both. 997S three times and the new Z06 at least weekly for the past few months. There is no comparison on acceleration at any speed. The Vette, hands down, is a much faster machine in terms of staight line speed. Gearing in the Vette is also much better for straight line driving.
The reason you don't get slammed into the seat in the Z06 is primarily because of the nice tall gears; going past 60 mph in first, whereas you are well into second in the 997.

C6/ 997...
I don't have an S, but base 997 with some good toys. You are comparing apples and oranges. The C6 is a great car (sold it), just not my style. Too big, does not fel all of a "piece" (although Porsche quality is certainly not what it used to be); also, it just depends on your use. The Corvette was great for lugging around and was very comfortable at 80 mph on the freeway. But the rear end was just entirely too long, and the ratios were not to my liking either. The car realy only needed two or three gears. The Porsche is more a specialized tool, fantastic for carving up a back road, or picking out a journey. It's not for everyone, but for those of us who love them, there is nothing quite like it.
